Will Serie A champions Juventus continue unbeaten this weekend?

Juventus v Udinese

September has so far been a fine month for Italian football as Antonio Conte has led Italy to victory over the Netherlands in a friendly match before seeing his team claim a 2-0 win in their opening Euro 2016 qualifying match. Now this weekend sees the team that he took to three successive Serie A titles before leaving shortly before the start of this 2014/15 season aims to record a second successive win in the league following the international break and set out their stall for their campaign to win a fourth title in a row? Can the home side take all three points in this Juventus v Udinese match as both teams look to build on their opening round victories?

The betting markets certainly suggest that it’ll be hosts at the Juventus Stadium that emerge triumphant at the full time whistle, but do the Juventus v Udinese betting odds take the league’s top scorer into consideration?

Juventus v Udinese Betting Odds:

Juventus to win – 1.35

Draw – 4.75

Udinese to win – 8.00

While Juventus had a winning start to the season away at Chievo in the opening round of Serie A football, they did not exactly set the world alight in front of goal as they came away with a 1-0 victory decided by an own goal, as defender Cristiano Biraghi put through his own net. This may be a problem for them this weekend as they face an Udinese side that has one of the most lethal strikers in Europe leading the line for them in Antonio di Natale.

The 36 year old striker had announced that he was to retire at the end of the 2013/14 season, but he reversed his decision at the end of the season and chose to stay with the club he signed for in 2004 for this season. It has been a great decision for both club and player as he has played two matches so far and he has scored seven times.

His season began with five goals in the 5-1 win over Ternana in the Coppa Italia before he added a brace in the 2-0 home win over Empoli before the international break and he will be desperate for more goals this weekend. However, Juventus have been the far better of the two teams in recent encounters with five straight wins before this weekend’s clash and they are unbeaten in six meetings since Alexis Sanchez, now of Arsenal, scored a late winner at the Juventus Stadium in January 2011.

The biggest question on everyone’s lips for this top of the table clash in Italy is will di Natale’s individual brilliance be enough for Udinese to upset the odds or will the all around greatness of this three time title winning Juventus side see them live up to their pre-match favourites billing?

I personally feel the hosts are likely to be the better team in this Juventus v Udinese match with the likes of Carlos Tevez, Fernando Llorente and Paul Pogba all more than capable of scoring goals and Arturo Vidal and that title winning defence capable of keeping the opposition out. However, di Natale is more than capable of showcasing his confidence, belief and excellence to net his first goal against the Bianconeri since a 3-0 home win for Udinese at the end of the 2009/10 season.

With a fantastic game of football potentially on the cards, I am putting my money on goals on this top drawer match from Serie A this weekend that will see the home side emerge as the winning side at full time.

Arsenal Favourites to Return to the Top of the EPL by Beating Chelsea Tonight

Theo Walcott celebrates his goal in Arsenal's 5-3 win over Chelsea in 2011

Theo Walcott celebrates his goal in Arsenal’s 5-3 win over Chelsea in 2011

The final Premier League match before Christmas sees a top of the table meeting between Arsenal and Chelsea at the Emirates as the sides meet for the second time this season after Chelsea’s 2-0 win in North London at the end of October. That victory saw Chelsea progress in the Capital One Cup against a weakened Arsenal side, as Arséne Wenger tends to do in cup competitions, but this evening’s clash of these two sides at The Emirates is sure to be a much more difficult task for Jose Mourinho’s men.

GR88.com certain believe that Chelsea will fail to claim all three points at The Emirates Stadium this evening as they make the team in blue the outsiders for all three points this evening while favouring the home team. Having said that their Arsenal v Chelsea betting odds see the match being a difficult one for both teams and that we should see a close match tonight.

Arsenal v Chelsea Outright Odds:

Arsenal victory – 2.26

Draw – 3.15

Chelsea victory – 3.05

(Odds provided by GR88.com are current as of today but subject to change.)

Victories for Liverpool and Manchester City over the weekend as well as failure to win two games in a row for Arsenal have seen them slip to third position in the Premier League before kick off this evening, but since losing 2-0 to Chelsea at the end of October in the Capital One Cup they have been in excellent form in front of their own fans. They have won four and drawn one of their five matches, conceding just a single goal against Everton in a 1-1 draw, so they will be confident of this ground tonight. However, they have been beaten away at Napoli in the Champions League and at Man City last weekend in their last two games with eight goals conceded but which Arsenal side will we see emerge from the tunnels this evening?

I am with GR88.com in thinking that we’ll see the Arsenal side that has gone unbeaten in almost two months on home soil, and with Chelsea having had a poor run of results away from home since winning at The Emirates two months ago. They have won just two of their six away games since sending Arséne Wenger’s charges out of the Capital One and these came against two of the bottom four of the Premier League in West Ham and Sunderland. The other four games in this time have seen losses to Newcastle, Stoke and FC Basel in the Champions League while they were held at Sunderland in the League Cup last week too. That game saw Chelsea spurn plenty of chances before the hosts levelled in the 88th minute before seeing Mourinho’s men off in extra time to reach the last four of the competition. They’ll need to bounce back this evening against a much better side than Sunderland, but can Chelsea manage this?

Although Chelsea have the better recent head-to-head against Arsenal with wins in each of their last three matches against their fellow Londoners and are unbeaten in four, but Arsenal are much more fearsome this season than in many a year. They are missing Jack Wilshere after his crude gesture to the Man City fans, but will be boosted by the return of Lukas Podolski up front and with Chelsea making headlines with Jose Mourinho’s dropping of former Arsenal left back Ashley Cole for Cesar Azpilicueta the hosts are sure to be more settled for tonight’s match.. As a result of this I feel that Arsenal will be the side that makes all the running tonight and returns to the top of the league with all three points at The Emirates tonight.

Hertha Berlin favoured to beat Werder Bremen and move into the Europa League spots!

Hertha celebrate the winner against Bremen last season.

Hertha celebrate the winner against Bremen last season.

Last season’s Hertha Berlin v Werder Bremen match saw Hertha end a three match losing streak against these familiar foes and if they can claim victory against Bremen this evening it will be the first time since the 2001/02 Bundesliga season that they will have won back to back matches in this fixture. They are doing better than Bremen at this stage of the season with six more points collected in 15 matches and they are favoured to increase that gap to nine points and move themselves into the top six in the league with victory tonight according to GR88.com. Their Hertha v Werder betting odds are as below.

Hertha Berlin v Werder Bremen Betting Odds:

Hertha Berlin to win – 1.62

Draw – 3.75

Werder Bremen to win – 5.00

(Odds provided by GR88.com are current as of today but subject to change.)

Although Hertha Berlin are favoured to take all three points in the opening match of the 16th round of Bundesliga action this evening, they are less favoured this evening than last night as they have slipped from odds 1.57 to 1.60. I feel that they should not be slipping as they face a Werder Bremen side this evening that is in serious trouble defensively. Bremen come into this match without a win in four and their 7-0 thumping at home by FIFA Club World Cup bound Bayern Munich saw their goals against record in this run reach 17 goals. All confidence that they had up to that point would have been sucked out of them too as they shipped a goal every ten minutes after going behind in the 21st minute of the match.

Despite this appalling recent defensive record of late, Bremen have been scoring goals in this winless streak as they have found the net on seven occasions, with the majority of them coming in the 4-4 draw away at Hoffenheim, and this has seen them outscore their hosts over the last four games by two goals. Hertha have taken seven points in their last four matches, compared to just a single point for the visitors to the Olympiastadion, but their defensive record of conceding just three goals in the last four games will give them the edge this evening.

As well as this Hertha have conceded as many goals in their 15 Bundesliga matches this season as Bremen have done in their last four games. In fact, this concession of so many goals in the last few games has seen Werder Bremen double their goals conceded tally from 17 after 11 matches to 34 after 15 and I can see them shipping goals again tonight. However, they are likely to find the net as well, but their leaky defence will cost them ultimately and my money is on a home win tonight with plenty goals in the game.

Back Hertha Berlin to win this Hertha v Werder match and there to be +2.5 goals scored @ 2.34 in the GR88 Sportsbook!
